Yoddhas, the GMR Group-owned franchise representing the state of Uttar Pradesh in the Pro Kabaddi League, returned to winning ways with a thumping 57-27 win over Haryana Steelers in Pro Kabaddi 2023-24. Super Raider Surender Gill was the highest scorer for U.P. Yoddhas, earning 13 points and his first Super 10 this season. Captain and Dubki King Pardeep Narwal, who won the ‘Moment of the Match’ award, returned to his form with his career’s 80th Super 10, earning 12 points from this game. An outstanding defensive display from the Yoddhas included an impressive hi-five from Sumit, who earned eight tackle points and won the ‘Game Changer’ award tonight. Gurdeep and Nitish gave excellent support to Sumit, making a total of five and four tackle points, respectively. U.P. Yoddhas are now placed second in the points table with six points from two games.

Haryana Steelers, after winning the toss, invited U.P. Yodhas for the opening raid, and the Yodhas made complete use of this chance that came their way. Surender Gill opened the scoreboard with a bonus, and the Yodhas capitalised on the lead with a tackle point immediately after. The game today saw U.P. Yoddhas return to the mat with their usual flair as the team raced ahead with incredible offensive and defensive displays. Captain and Dubki King Pardeep Narwal also returned to his form, earning raid points in quick successions, including two multi-point raids.

U.P. Yoddhas today dominated the mat, inflicting two All-Outs on Haryana Steelers in the first half, first in the eighth minute and second in the 16th minute. Pardeep was beautifully supported by super raider Surender Gill as both of them earned seven points each in the first half, along with a rock-solid defensive display from the Yoddhas, earning a total of nine points between Nitesh, Shubham, Gurdeep and Vijay Malik. The first half ended with the scoreboard reading 29-14 in U.P. Yoddhas’ favour.

The second half began with U.P. Yoddhas continuing their demolition, inflicting the third ‘All-Out’ on Haryana Steelers in the 4th minute with the scoreboard reading 35-16. Haryana Steelers was wholly outclassed on the mat as the Yoddhas kept on with their all-round offensive and defensive display by inflicting the fourth All Out of the night in the 8th minute of the second half. The scoreboard at this time read 44-17 to the favour of U.P. Yoddhas.

The second half saw U.P. Yoddhas in their usual form for the first time this season as they added 28 points to their kitty against just 13 points by Haryana Steelers. Pardeep Narwal also earned his 80th career Super10 while he was joined by Surender Gill, who also made his Super 10 in this game. The defensive dup of Nitesh and Sumit impressed everyone with their impressive tackles, earning 11 points out of the 28 in the second half. The match ended with a thumping win for U.P. Yoddhas, with the scoreboard reading 57-27.
