U.P. Yoddhas, the franchisee owned by GMR Group, will hope to get back into winning ways as they prepare to face Gujarat Giants in their seventh encounter of Pro Kabaddi 2023-24. The match will be played at the SDAT Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on December 23, 2023.

U.P. Yoddhas are placed seventh in the points tally with 15 points from six games, while Gujarat Giants are placed fifth with 18 points from six games. This will be U.P. Yoddhas’ last encounter in the Chennai leg before the team heads to its much-anticipated home leg in Noida after a gap of two long years.

The match between U.P. Yoddhas and Gujarat Giants will be telecast LIVE on Star Sports Network and can be streamed LIVE on Disney Hotstar on December 23, 2023, from 09:00 p.m. (IST) onwards.

U.P. Yoddhas, who have won two and tied three games from their six encounters so far, will look forward to returning to winning ways against Gujarat Giants as both teams will take on the mat on December 23 2023, after facing losses in their last encounters. While Yoddhas lost 15-23 to Jaipur Pink Panthers, the Giants slumped to a 29-31 defeat against Haryana Steelers.

Historically, U.P. Yoddhas have had a challenging face-off against the Giants, winning twice and sharing the spoils as many times; however, in their last encounter in the previous season, the Giants got the better of the Yoddhas with a slender four-point win of 35-31.

Speaking before the Match, U.P. Yoddhas Head Coach Jasveer Singh said, “We are taking one game at a time, and we are aware of the unforced errors in our last game. As a team, we are training hard and are confident of a favourable result against Gujarat Giants tomorrow. The team is in high spirits as this will be our last game before we head to our home leg in Noida, and this will act as a much-needed catalyst for us in our last encounter in Chennai tomorrow.”

Surender Gill has been in sensational form in raiding and currently sits on top in the league for most successful raids (47) and raid points (62). He is ably supported by dubki-king Pardeep Narwal, who has 41 raid points.

The defence of the Yoddhas has been well taken care of by the trio of Gurdeep, Sumit, and Nitesh Kumar. Gurdeep is currently in third position in the league for most tackle points (19) and is well assisted by Sumit and Nitesh Kumar, who have 16 tackle points each. Vijay Malik has also played a crucial role as an all-rounder for the Yoddhas. Gujarat Giants have their star raider Sonu with 52 raid points, and they will be the man who can pose a threat to the Yoddhas. In defence, Captain Fazel Atrachali and Sombir have been in good form and will aim to make it challenging for the Yoddhas’ raiders.
