Jaipur, September 24: UP Yoddhas buoyed by a commanding 17-point victory over the Tamil Thalaivas will look to build on their resurgence when they take on the Bengaluru Bulls at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium on September 25. The clash is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm IST in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), rounding off the Jaipur leg of their season.
The Yoddhas snapped their difficult run in style in the last outing, delivering a complete performance with both raiders and defenders firing in tandem. Now, the side will be keen to stitch back-to-back wins and climb further up the league standings.
Leading the charge in attack is the in-form Gagan Gowda, who has tallied 76 points in seven matches this season. With four Super 10s and an average of nearly 11 raid points per game, he remains the centerpiece of UP’s offence. Support has come from Bhavani Rajput and Guman Singh, whose timely contributions have eased the load on Gowda, while academy graduate Shivam Chaudhary has added spark with 21 points across six matches, including five in the last game.
On the defensive end, skipper Sumit Sangwan continues to stand tall, having cemented his place among the league’s most reliable tacklers with an average of 3.57 tackle points per game. His combination with vice-captain Ashu Singh and the defensive depth offered by Mahender Singh and Hitesh gives the Yoddhas a well-rounded look at the back.
Speaking ahead of the contest, assistant coach Upendra Malik noted the importance of capitalising on momentum, saying, “The last win showed what we can achieve when every player delivers to his potential. Bengaluru are a tough unit, but if we carry forward the same intensity, we are confident of producing another strong performance.”
Bengaluru Bulls, meanwhile, have endured a middling campaign, with five wins and four losses, and will be will be eager to find consistency. However, with the Yoddhas finally rediscovering their groove, this clash presents UP an ideal opportunity for them to consolidate their turnaround and strengthen their push for a playoff berth.
