We surely had a disappointing patch halfway through ProKabaddi 2018, but UP Yoddha made a brilliant recovery, putting up stupendous performance to keep their playoff hopes alive. We defeated Patna Pirates in our previous encounter, but yet another big task remains in our way to the playoffs – in form of U Mumba, one of the strongest contenders for the ProKabaddi title this season. The face-off will take place at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium, Kolkata on Saturday.

A Quick Look

Starting off well, then struggling a bit before bouncing back, the Yoddha clan looks sorted right now with our first-choice raiders in an impressive form. On the other hand are U Mumba, who have barely let the form drop in this season. Winning this one will surely not be easy, but with quality raiders and one of the best defense of the league, we can keep faith on the team to pull this one off as well.

Their Defenders

Talking about U Mumba’s defense, the one name that comes to mind is that of Fazel Atrachali. The Iranian has dominated the charts as far as tackle points are concerned and has been really effective, with a strike rate of 61.66 per cent in his tackles. At the moment, he is the second-most successful defender in the league. The team also boasts of an in form Surender Singh as right cover and Rohit Rana in left cover who can cause trouble. Surender will be the biggest name against our left raiders Shrikant and Prashant. However, Prashanth is cunning enough to steal bonus points in toughest of situations and has been consistently scoring Super 10s. Eyes will also be on captain Shrikant and our wonder-boy Azad Singh, who helped majorly in our victory over the Pirates.

Their Raiders

Siddharth Desai has been the find of ProKabaddi 2018. The third-most successful raider of the season so far, Siddharth will be the biggest threat for our defenders in the match, along with another consistent raider, Rohit Baliyan. However, it will be a challenge for them to resist the trident attack of Nitesh, Narender and Jeeva. Sachin Kumar will also be the surprise element in the side who can earn us both tackle and raid points.

The Story So Far

U Mumba are currently at the second position in Zone A points table, having qualified for the playoffs. We have occupied the fifth position in the Zone B points table.
