UP Yoddha had come close, yet fell a little short of a place in the final of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 7. The team finished with 74 points in the end, only behind defending champions Bengal Warriors and Dabang Delhi.

Of the 22 games the team had played, they won 13, lost 7 and drew two matches. The main orchestrators of this performance were UP Yoddha’s top raider Shrikant Jadhav and top defender Sumit Sangwan.

With PKL 8 around the corner, here is a stat round-up of how well our top raider and defender performed.

UP Yoddha best raider from Season 7: Shrikant Jadhav

Shrikant Jadhav, who was retained by UP Yoddha with a Final Bid Match card of Rs 72 lakhs, topped the points list for the team with 152 points in 22 matches.

In 112 successful raids, Shrikant earned 148 raid points and sat comfortably on top of the list, with Rishank Devadiga coming in at second position with 75 raid points.

Shrikant had scored an average of 6.73 raid points per match and pocketed an impressive 28 do-or-die points. He also registered the most super-10s for UP Yoddha in PKL 7, earning 10 points or more in a match on three different occasions.

UP Yoddha best defender from Season 7: Sumit Sangwan

Sumit Sangwan pocketed the New Young Player of the Season award for his strong performance in PKL 7. He scored 80 points throughout, tied with Surender Gill in the second position, behind Shrikant.

In 75 successful tackles, Sumit managed 77 tackle points, edging out his captain Nitesh Kumar by just two points. Across the league, Sumit was placed second, behind U Mumba’s Fazel Atrachali’s 82 tackle points.

In the 22 matches that Sumit played, he registered seven High-5s, where players earned between five to nine points in a single match. He sits atop that list across all 12 teams alongside Puneri Paltan’s PO Surjeet Singh, who achieved this feat in one less match.
