Delhi, October 13: UP Yoddhas delivered their most complete performance of the season, dismantling U Mumba 40-24 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi to keep their playoff aspirations alive in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12.
After a series of close contests, the Yoddhas finally found the balance they had been searching for, combining sharp raiding, disciplined defence, and sustained intensity across both halves. The result snapped their lean run and also highlighted the tactical evolution of a side that has shown steady growth with every outing.
Leading from the front, Guman Singh once again stamped his authority on the contest with an authoritative 12-point performance, mixing composure with controlled aggression. His ability to pick points consistently in pressure situations set the tone for UP’s dominance on the night.
In the attack, Bhavani Rajput (5 points) and Gagan Gowda (1 point) provided timely support, ensuring that the pressure on Mumba’s defensive unit never eased. Together, the trio executed 15 successful raids, one of which was a Super Raid, achieving a raid strike rate of nearly 30% and maintaining attacking pressure throughout the match.
The defensive unit, however, was the true backbone of the victory. Mahender Singh (4 tackle points), Ashu Singh (3), Hitesh (4), and captain Sumit (2) combined to deliver a performance marked by precision and anticipation. Their collective effort restricted U Mumba’s raiders to minimal returns, reflected in the Yoddhas’ 70% tackle success rate, one of the highest by any team this season.
Crucially, UP Yoddhas maintained defensive shape even during Mumba’s attempted comebacks, registering three Super Tackles and repeatedly regaining momentum through perfectly timed interventions.
Head coach Jasveer Singh and assistant coach Upendra Malik will take immense pride in how the team translated their tactical learnings from previous close encounters into a near-flawless execution.
With this emphatic victory, UP Yoddhas have reignited their campaign and sent a strong message to the rest of the league that they remain very much in contention. The win, built on teamwork, patience, and a clear approach, could well mark the beginning of their late-season surge in their spirited setup.
What's next for both teams?
UP Yoddhas will next face the Tamil Thalaivas on October 14, whereas U Mumba are poised to take on the Telugu Titans on October 16.
