New Delhi, October 15: Riding high on confidence after consecutive wins, UP Yoddhas will look to extend their momentum when they take on Haryana Steelers at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi on October 16 at 9:30 PM IST. With 12 points from 15 games, the Yoddhas currently occupy the eighth spot on the table, well within striking distance of the playoff or play-in zone, and a victory against the Steelers could further strengthen their resurgence in the season.
In their previous faceoff on September 5, the Yoddhas had gone down 32-37 to the Steelers, a contest that remained evenly poised until the closing stages. This time around, buoyed by improved tactical cohesion and sharper execution across departments, UP will aim to turn those fine margins in their favour.
Reflecting on the team’s progress, Assistant Coach Upendra Malik said, “The belief in our camp has never receded. Every player understands his role and the intent we want to bring on the mat. The last two games have shown what we are capable of when we play with clarity and confidence. We want to continue building on this rhythm and carry it deep into the season.”
The form of Guman Singh has been a major catalyst in UP’s revival. The star raider, who delivered a commanding 14-point performance in the last outing, continues to anchor the attack with composure and precision. Alongside him, Bhavani Rajput and Gagan Gowda have provided vital support, ensuring that the raiding depth remains one of UP’s key strengths.
Defensively, the Yoddhas have found balance and bite, with Hitesh and Sumit leading the charge through well-timed tackles and intelligent positioning. The unit has steadily grown in confidence and clarity, matching tactical structure with instinctive play, particularly in their previous two contests.
Haryana Steelers, known for their compact defence and fast transitions, will pose a strong challenge, but with momentum on their side and belief growing within the camp, UP Yoddhas will take the mat with renewed purpose, ready to sustain their warrior-like comeback and continue their charge toward playoff qualification.
