The Dubai Capitals - owned by the GMR Group - saw their maiden International T20 League (ILT20) campaign conclude in an eight-wicket defeat to MI Emirates in the Eliminator match on February 9.

The Capitals, on the whole, were one of the top teams to watch out for in the tournament, given the depth of talents in their ranks. Besides Rovman Powell, Joe Root, Sikandar Raza and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, cricket fans witnessed former India stalwarts Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan showcase their skills on the field.

Backed by numbers, we take a look at the top-performing players who excelled in the ILT20 for Dubai Capitals.

Most runs

West Indies all-rounder Rovman Powell piled up the most runs in the ILT20. Powell, who featured in every game for the Capitals in the tournament, hit 350 runs with an average of 43.75 and a strike rate of 160.55. His efforts were noticed as he would later be announced as the new captain of the Windies T20 team.

Most wickets

Australia's Adam Zampa and up-and-coming UAE star Akif Raja were at the forefront of the Dubai Capitals' bowling attack in ILT20 2023, grabbing nine wickets each. Zampa, in particular, was the most impactful bowler with his tally of wickets registered in just four matches.

Highest individual score

Rovman Powell's 41-ball 97 against MI Emirates in match 13 of ILT20 2023 is the highest individual score by any Dubai Capitals, and what a knock it was! The West Indian smashed four boundaries and 10 sixes that powered the Capitals to a match-winning total of 222/3.

Best bowling figures

Adam Zampa announced his arrival at the ILT20 in style, claiming 3/16 in his first game for Dubai Capitals. Maintaining an economy rate of 4.00, the Aussie spin wizard was a menace for the Desert Vipers' batting order, and his performance earned him the Player of the Match award despite being on the losing side.
